1st Visit
What to expect on your first visit to The Umbrella Club
We understand that coming along to a new place with people you don’t know can sometimes be a little scary, so hopefully letting you know what to expect from your first visit will help you to feel more comfortable.
There is no need to book a place or be referred to The Umbrella Club, just come along and get involved.
You will be greeted by one of the youth work team who will give you a membership pack that will need to be filled in. A parent or carer will need to be with you as they will need to sign consent forms if you are under 18 and complete their contact details if you are aged 12 or under.

Once your membership pack is completed a youth worker will show you where to sign in each week, pay your subs and (most importantly) where the tuck shop is and what its opening times are. You will be introduced to the youth workers and shown around the building so that you know where to find the toilets and where the activities take place.
If you are feeling a little nervous and would like your parent or carer to stay with you then they are able to do so until you are happy to come along on your own.
A youth worker will introduce you to some of the other young people at The Umbrella Club if you are happy for us too, if not you are more than welcome to stay with a youth worker until you want to join in with the other young people.
How we earn your trust
A youth worker will tell you what activities we are doing each week. This can be cooking, arts and crafts, sports, table tennis or team games. Or you can just hang out and chill.
At the end of the session youth workers will wait with you until you are safely picked up by a parent or carer.
